Hiding in the Long Grass was the eagerly awaited sequel to Stuart’s first book, Beyond the Green Gate and is split into three distinct sections.
Section 1 covers Stuart’s four years fishing Savay ‘to the max’. He soon found success, catching his first carp ‘on the rota’ during his first week as a member. Stuart takes you through the hard work that was needed to acquire any modicum of success on Savay, fishing for some of the best carp in the land.
Section 2 covers Stuart’s time fishing a one-hundred-and-twenty-acre windswept lake in Bedfordshire called Chimneys.Each session started by loading the boat with all the necessary equipment and then heading off onto the crystal-clear, deep water, in search of carp. With uncaught carp and a huge helping of mystery about the lake, this is a journey of friendships and adventures whilst trying to catch some stunning fish.
Section 3 covers Stuart’s search for large barbel on the River Trent, where he chose to fish off the beaten track, where it was unusual to share the stretch with anybody else. Stuart set himself the target of catching a double figured carp every month of the river season, as well as a barbel over the magical 15lb barrier. Proving that you don’t need to fish the busy stretches of river in order to catch barbel of specimen size.
